New Mexico 2018

My daughter, Cheshire, and I went to China in May and spent nine days visiting Shanghai, Xian and Beijing. There were 8 others in our group. While we had a very limited glimpse of the country and perhaps our glimpse was further limited by the government, I was very impressed by the friendliness, the cleanliness and the overall modernization of the cities. Shanghai with 26 million inhabitants was particularly striking.  I alone traveled to Guilin and spent five days in the surrounding area along the Li River and at the Longji Rice Terraces. I do not apologize for the number of pictures from those few days  as they were filled with  insights into the less sophisticated life of China.

In March , 11 of us, led by Jon Fuller spent 10 days photographing in Patagonia.  We had three bases: Torres del Paine National Park in Chile and the towns of El Calafate and El Chalten in Argentina. Wildlife, snow capped mountains, extremely large lakes and glaciers all contributed to the wonderful experience of spending time in this unique part of the world.

China 2018

In December, I joined three other photographers and Russ Burden for a photo adventure at White Sands National Monument and Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. I had a good idea of what to expect at Bosque with thousands of sandhill cranes and snow geese, but I was completely surprised by the beauty of White Sands. What an enjoyable 6 days it was with the excitement of Bosque and the peacefulness of White Sands.

Other than during my trip to Patagonia, most of my photography in 2019 was during short trips to a variety of spots.  So here are a few pictures from each of several locations in New Mexico, Georgia, New York, Virginia, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Pennsylvania,Tunisia and Egypt.  It really is a hodge podge. And yes, several of the pictures from Tunisia and Egypt were taken during the first few days of 2020.
